Dobson was visiting New York in 1953 for the commission of Sir Thomas Lipton's bust. The visit brought two
other commissions, a portrait bust of the Chairman
of Steuben Glass, and an invitation to design a piece
for the company’s collection of artists’ glass. The
result, an engraved goblet titled The Wave, is in the
Steuben Collection and in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.NY.
